Our Core Benefits


We have structured salary bands and ranges to ensure that we are competitive against the external market. Our annual pay review and performance related pay also means that you will have the opportunity to influence increases to your annual basic salary through your own performance during the year.

Bonus and incentive schemes

We also offer discretionary incentives and bonuses dependant on your role with us.

Company Pension Scheme

To help you save for your retirement in a tax efficient way, our defined contribution pension scheme is available to all staff members from their first day of employment. The minimum contribution you need to make to join the scheme is 3% of your annual salary. To help your pension fund grow, contributions are matched by the Society up to a maximum of 8%, subject to the rules of the scheme.

Free Life Assurance cover

From day one you are automatically protected with life cover which provides four times your annual salary to your nominated beneficiary.


On joining the Society you will receive a minimum of 23 days holiday (pro rata for part timers), rising to 28, plus Public Holidays.

Car/Car Allowance

Depending on your role you may be eligible to receive a company car or car allowance.

Supporting your Health and Wellbeing

Critical Illness Protection cover

In the event of you becoming seriously ill this cover provides the reassurance of a lump sum payment of 1 x your annual basic salary. You will automatically be covered unless you decide to opt out. The cover is a taxable benefit. Full details of the terms and conditions and tax implications will be provided when you join us.

Private Healthcare

We provide you with private healthcare cover once you have spent a year with us. The cover is a taxable benefit and is provided on a pro-rata basis for part-timers.

Company Sick Pay

Once you have worked for the Society for 3 months, you will be eligible for our discretionary Company Sick Pay scheme and this entitlement will increase with length of service.

Occupational Health Advice and Support

Our occupational health advice service helps us identify any support we can provide to you to facilitate your return to work after a prolonged period of illness.

Flexible Working

We offer all staff members the opportunity to apply for flexible working patterns.

Free Employee Support Programme

A confidential 24 hour support service is available free of charge to all employees and their family members. This includes advice, support and counselling on a wide variety of matters including financial, legal, medical and consumer issues.

Free eye test for VDU use

We reimburse the cost of eye tests for VDU users and we also offer reimbursement of up to £55 on glasses for VDU use.

Free annual flu jab

We reimburse the cost of flu jabs (up to a maximum of £15) to help you keep the flu bug at bay.

Lifestyle benefits

Buying Extra Holiday

We provide you with the option to use some of your annual salary to buy up to an additional 5 days holiday each year (pro rata for part-timers and fixed term staff). The cost is spread out over the year in equal monthly reductions from your gross salary.

Travel season ticket loans

Save money on your daily bus or train journey with our annual season ticket loan.

Childcare vouchers

Offering parents an opportunity to save money on their childcare provision through tax and national insurance contribution efficiencies.

Staff Sports & Social Club

A great way to get to know your colleagues and have fun. For a small monthly fee which is matched by the Principality, you will receive regular discounts in local bars and restaurants and up to 50% on theatre, cinema, concert tickets and other social and sports events.

Wales Millennium Centre Gold Staff Card

Principality’s sponsorship of the Wales Millennium Centre means that staff can take advantage of a range of discounts and special offers including tickets, food and drink.

Career Breaks

We recognise that you may need or may wish to break your career with us in order to devote time to other responsibilities or interests. Wherever practicably possible we aim to support the provision of career breaks (from 12 weeks to 6 months) once you have two years continuous service with us.

Time Off for Voluntary Charitable Activities

We recognise the valuable contribution our staff members can make to the communities in which we operate. We are committed to providing you with reasonable time off to participate in voluntary activities with the charities we support as long as you are prepared to invest your own time, by way of annual leave.

We reward our existing employees for helping us to recruit the best, with a thank you payment when a recommended friend is appointed and a further payment when they successfully complete six months service with us.

Annual Recognition Awards Dinner

In January of each year all staff members are invited to a dinner and dance where we formally recognise and reward those individuals and teams who have made an extra special contribution to our business.

Rewarding Loyalty

To reward employee loyalty to the Society, those members of staff reaching 15, 25 and 35 years service will receive a monetary award.
